I have a relativly cheap LCD monitor but it's been working just fine. I went to a LAN party yesterday and put it into a backpack without the screend touching anything else but the fabric, but when I took it out and booted up I noticed a dark spot sort-of in the middle. Is this something I am stuck with or can this be fixed somehow?

You will have to wait and see if it goes away. It may not if the liquid crystals have been damaged. Heres a explanation on how a LCD works.
