Hi
lately my computer has been restarting and shutting itself very randomly. It may do it half an hour to an hour into turning it on and other times it dusnt even get into windows to load. It is becomming quite annoying. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Download and install Everest Home Edition

Run the programme, click + next to computer then sensor, give it a minute to show the temperatures

Click + next to computer then summary

Look on right for display / video adapter

Look at the manufacturer’s site for the suitable drivers for your Operating System

If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything

Please set a system restore point before you install anything

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

The graphics card is the : Radeon 9200se.
Im not sure which driver to download tho. Thanks.

You need .net framework installed before using these drivers

There is a link to download it but you will then need to visit Microsoft Update twice for updates to it

What do i do after ive run those? It says i dont need to defrag but im not sure what to do in the disc clean up.

Run the defragmenter

Click the start button, click run (on right), type sfc /scannow in to the box and press enter

Do you want me to defragment? When i do the run program a screen appears and dissappears in a split secound but nothing else happens. Should this happen?

Right click the taskbar, click task manager, click file, click new task, type sfc /scannow then press enter

Run the defragmenter

The same thing happens again with the sfc / scannow

Download, install and run Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

How did you get on with the video adapter drivers and temperatures?

Im not sure what im supposed to do with the driver but it is downloaded and what temperatures should i be looking at? Thanks

Double click the driver file to install it

You may have up to 4 temperatures shown, post what they are

the driver was installed and the temps are:

Motherboard 23 C
CPU 29 C
Hitachi HDS722512VLAT80 26 C

Temperatures are fine, almost remarkably good

Is it still blue screening

Blue screening? is that restarting and shutting off?
