Alrighty,

well it could be a malware thing, bcuz theres a hidden file called 'Javaw.exe', which is a Sun microsystems inc. file, in the Windir\System folder so thats a lil ^o), and when i use HJT's PRocess mgr to closeit, or use Killbox to delete it, the connection instantly ceases..

OR it could be a installation prob, cuz the computer was recently formatted and 98SE was reinstalled, so when i got it home, i went to Control Panel --> Add/Remove --> Win Setup --> and installed Dial-up Networking, so i could continue to use my previous Internet Connection, but i didn't have the Win98 disc, so i used my old 95 Upgrade CD.. oops?

What do u think?

Thanks,

D

So assuming you let Windows replace the 98 files from the 95 CD, you now have a Hybrid method of connecting to the internet via Dial-Up Networking.

Your best bet would be to take it off again and let the Windows 98 files install. If Windows doesn't know where its install files have gone and you don't have a Windows 98 Disk, you'll usually find them in the following folders which you can tell Windows to look in.

C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS
C:\CABS
C:\SETUP
C:\WIN98
