Trying to transfer files using a direct cable!

hello all, im pleased to now be a member of this community! lots of good adivce and people know exactly what they are talking about!

i have bought a direct parallel cable to connect my laptop to my home computer to send files to.

My problem is that after i have connected them together i dont know how to transfer files from my computer to my laptop!
