please help

It's active every 20-30 minutes when I have IE6 running Norton brings up the dialer.dialplatform alert - security alert - and it goes off and kills it but it keeps returning. And as far as I can make out win<number or number/alpha characthers>.tmp.exe is behind it

please find below hijack log

  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

Apologies for the delay in replying to your previous message. Please find below the Pandascan followed by the hijackthis log

No problem I understand :whistling:

Looking good lets just get rid of what Active found,

*Please open notepad and save these instructions, Name it something you will remember
*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

c:\windows\system32\stdole3.tlb
c:\windows\system32\1024\ld638D.tmp

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click on “All Files”
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Your computer should restart automatically if not restart manually,

Once back in normal mode rescan with Active and post back what it finds please

Don

See below for latest Panda scan. I don't think I'm ever going to be clean clean, but running spybot and add-aware should keep it fairly clean. Also not downloading files from dubious sites should help. Anyway over to you

Lets run this and see if there is more hiding on us,

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free...mitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Also not downloading files from dubious sites should help. Anyway over to you
