Lost all sound!

I have no sound whatsoever! Prior to some tinkering, I had no sound when viewing video on the web, but had it for media player and iTunes. But now I have no sound, tried reinstalling sound cards, tried system restore and nothing has worked. Please help!!

When U open device manager pop up, do U have any yellow ! or ? beside the "sound, video and other controllers" or maybe listed as "unknown device"??
