Hello,

One morning, Microsoft Antipspyware has detected IST.IST Bar browser modifier. I have tried many antispyware programs but nothing worked so far. I have read a lot of forums but was not able to find the solution to my problem. Can someone help me?

I have passed below my log file from Highjack this.

Thanks,

JM

Welcome to Geeks to Go!

Here's my advice:

step 1
Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\WINDOWS\pnxsncne.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
c:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

I'm ending spysweeper because it may interfere with the cleaning we are about to do.

step 2
Close all windows, applications and browsers.
Then use this tool:
http://securityrespo...er/FxIstbar.exe

step 3
Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IDIE] C:\WINDOWS\pnxsncne.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

step 4*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.
step 5
We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
step 6
Delete the following file:

C:\WINDOWS\pnxsncne.exe

Delete the following folder:

C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\

step 7
Reboot back into normal mode. Post a fresh log using HijackThis.
