so i have a WXP pc getting internet by connecting to a cable modem.

so basically i have a broadband connection based on a local area connection.

my friend has a laptop which he connects at work via a cable modem via an ethernet cable pretty much like me. Maybe the isp's are different.

so i took out my ethernet cable connecting to my PC and shoved it in the laptop- no internet. packts being sent but none recieved.

i tryed a repair but the ip could not be renewed

so i was wondering what i can do to make the laptop able to access the internet via my cable modem.

thanks

I would do what you did when you got it to work with your PC...install the modem drivers on the laptop. Then go through the process, if any, of having the laptop recognized through your ISP. Every PC I work on using a cable modem, makes me do these steps. Once install CD is run, they all can connect through the router I finally put in. :whistling:
