I have vx2 (transponder) and the trojan - stubby. Here is my hijack log. I've run the webroot removal tool, but it just keeps on coming back.

Hi and welcome beachbum

Please go Here and unzip the newest version of HJT into a new dedicated folder,
Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt. Unzip HijackThis into this folder.
Remove the older version you currently have

Please run these two online scans. Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

You should try to delete any files that these scanners are unable to clean. Then let us know if its working better and what the scans found.

Then scan again with HijackThis and post another log.

Hi,

thanks for the help. I couldn't get the trendmicro scan to work...kept on saying page not found after I entered United States as the location.

I ran active scan and it said that it couldn't help with the spyware...
Here's the report...can I delete the files it lists?

We are getting closer

[*]Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

[*]Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: DLMaxObj Class - {00000000-59D4-4008-9058-080011001200} - C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gwzznypzyueup] C:\WINDOWS\system32\uubuqjrd.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

[*]Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\uubuqjrd.exe
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Run another scan with Active and let us know what it finds

Post back a fresh HijackThis log Please

Hi,

So, I followed the steps above. Interestingly, I couldn't find the o2-BHO item in my Hijak lists and then in safe mode I couldn't find the dlmax.dll.

I was able to get rid of the other items.

I ran active and it said that I had thnall1r.[1].exe as a threat

Here is the Hijak log:

Hi,
We are gaining on it,
I need to see the full path of the file
Please disable your current AV
Click Here and run RAV online scan, Copy and paste back the log into this thread when it has finished,
Be sure and enable your AV when done with the above

I ran the scan, but I couldn't access the log file...it froze and was unresponsive. From the part that was showing, the report said it found one virus...but no path location was listed.

IE crashes all the time now.

If I reformat the hard-drive, will that solve the problem?

If found, delete restart to normal mode and try and run the online virus scan please

I was able to delete a similarly named file: thnall.exe but the scan still chokes my system.

I did get this much:
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-2529006832-2801439982-1300003180-1006\Dc1.exe - TrojanDownloader:Win32/Agent.AE -> Infected

Thanks

Empty your recycle bin,
Run another scan with Active scan and see if it finds anything, If it does could write down what it finds and where it is located please,

Post back a fresh log please as well
