i was told i dont have a burner on my xp.Is a burner a program i can download?Or is it an actual piece of equipment I need to install?Ive seen freeware like NERO & when i downloaded it & attemped to burn something it didnt work.I think i also tried easy cd creator

Click start, click my computer, do you have any drives with RW

The CD ROM Drives should be empty to check this

i have a disc drive & a D:\ DVD-CD-Rom drive

To check another way, click start, right click my computer, click properties, hardware, device manager, click the + next to DVD / CD ROM Drives and post the make and model

Though it seems you have a drive which plays only

SR-8177 (8x speed, slim type DVD-ROM)

It does not write to disc, you could add a DVDRW drive as this will also burn to CDR / RW
