Hey, thnx for looking at my problem. Anywayz, i got two computers, and everytime i turn my other computer on it comes up with the error "C:/windows/system32/cmd.com The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0549 IP:ffe4 OP:fe ff 1d 09 c6. Choose close to terminate the application" it pops up in a small window in the middle of the screen titled 16 bit MS Dos subsystem. I dont know what that means, but it wont let me do anything on my computer unless i close it and every time i close it another one just pops up in its place.

Thnx n advance and i'd really appreciate any help i could get. unfortunately i naturally cant run Hijack this on it since i cant do much of anything with it.

Hi ferynd...

Will it boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key during boot up? Can you then run a System Restore to a date before the problem began?

i went into the task manager and closed all the unnecessary processes, then closed the warning, and it stayed down, so i guess thats good... but not sure what it is i did, looks like it has a way to make a system restore disk, that restores it to factory settings so i'll check that out and post back, might take a while though.... on a side note, is there a way to get drivers for a GeForce 5600fx graphics card. i got the card. but i wiped my original computer and lost the driver, and i cant find the cd for it... just curious.. thnx again

cmd.com is normally associated with some kind of malware infection...

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
