Wow, really? This program is known to cause this exact problem in rare cases!
UNinstall daemon-tools temporarily, then reboot.
Look for Sptd.sys in c:\windows\system32\drivers
if it is there after reboot, rename it sptd.bak and reboot one more time
Now try your usb storage

IT WORKED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally things are getting better. Im NOT going to re-install DAEMON Tools. Thats non-sense why would it disable my USB disks.
And where did you learn all that from, how did you know that I had DAEMON TOOLS, and that i need to change a system32 driver file name ?? And what does it do??
Thanks a lot,
Hope I willbe able to help people too,
Sahil

Though I have never had this issue, I do have daemon-tools. Before I install programs, I read through the forums for a product to see if anyone is having issues. For some reason, it did not occur to me that this was an issue until last night.
I went back to the daemon-tools forum and found the old post
That file is one of the drivers used to simulate the virtual CD...renaming it prevents Windows from loading it, thus your problem goes away
Daemon-tools is actually a great piece of software, but version 4 was a bit buggier than previous versions.
You might consider installing 3.xx I have never had a problem with it and it still works great.
