Hello matt,

What are your system specs?
Has it always done this with Counter Strike?
Does this happen with all games?
Does a blue screen flash up for a split second?

hey,
AMD Athlon™ XP 2500+ 1.85GHz, 512 MB ram
my video card is GeForce 6200
Counter Strike Source was running fine until about a year ago or so and update can out for there main that steam was useing and then it just hasnt worked.

No a blue screen dosnt appear it just seems as if u press the restart button and it restarts.

no only source all other games run fine. and also i cannot play videos on my computer for some reaon it freezes the computer right up and dosnt un freeze until u restart the comp or end up terminating the program that is running a video...

thats what i thought the problem was.

First stop would be to reinstall the games and steam.
Second would be to update your hardware drivers (graphics, sound, motherboard chipset).

Turn off automatic restart to see if you get a blue screen.
Right click my computer > click properties > click advanced > click the settings button under startup and recovery > untick automatically restart > click ok > click apply and ok > then restart your PC when it asks you to.

Are there any errors in the system and application logs?

Have a look at the system/application logs in event viewer.
To view log files click start > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer. Look under system log and application log for items with red crosses.

Try updating your Nvidia graphics card driver.
Uninstall the existing one before installing the new one.

If it runs in other new games then it won't be the graphics card.

Have you tried using driver cleaner?

Driver Cleaner removes all files and registry settings for graphics card drivers. It also removes any left overs that might be there from previous driver versions.

http://www.drivercleaner.net/

Have you run any sort of RAM tester? http://www.memtest.org/
