In my friends pc, except the power light nothing works, no harddisk noise, no nothing. It just sits dead.
So i opened the case, removed all the pci cards, wires and just attached the power cable and then tried again -- got the same dead cpu.

After furthur examination I found :
One light between the ram and the heatsink and the 'power led' in front of the cpu are on(as in lighted). Except these nothing seems to be recieving power. So i suspect its psu power
Naturally i removed and reattached power cables to the motherobard, dusted a bit, again nothing. :whistling:

System:
P4 256 mb ddr , techcom 350w psu , some mobo, everything 2 years old

Any thoughts? I am pretty certain that its a psu problem coz AFAIK the psu fan should be the first thing that should be up and running. Do correct me if I am wrong

Tiya

btw my friends is a bit hesistant abt opening the 'whole compuer' , so I wld prefer to explore other 'safe' options before having a go at the psu.
