I hope I explain this right again (haha):
Any type of comand window (like Internet Options, Saving Pictures/files, Warning pop ups) are usually stretched out and the words/letters are missing in buttons or even the whole window (ex. Save As.., Cancel, Next, Back, OK) and I'm not sure whether its a program conflicting with other files or if it's a virus. I tried to reinstall my operating system to just fix everything (yeah...) and I can't get farther than the part where I have to enter my express code since the rectangular box to type the numbers in is gone (poof!) and the buttons are blank. I tried just clicking the window to see if i could blindly and miraculously type the numbers in... but I failed yet again. So, I'm kind of stuck with the Forums since my warranty expired so long ago.. Dell support wants to charge me 99 dollars to FIND OUT what's wrong with it and ATTEMPT to fix it, so I'm painstakingly trying not to pay that much for just this problem....

Can anyone relate and/or hook me up with a little information? I added a picture!

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

Download and install Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up Disc Clean Up

Run Tune Up Registry Clean Up

Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, which will take a few minutes and need a reboot. You should disable the antivirus programme to run this and check it is running after the reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Not sure if it is related, but have you tried re-installing your graphics driver.

How did this happen?, when?, what were you doing?, did you install something prior?. What happens when you boot into safe mode?.
