new user so please be patient .using avg free and everytime the dialog box popped (virus detected) up i clicked heal but its popped back up several times . ive tried to read on this forum and did some of the suggestions already .1. ive run ewido 2. run adaware se 3 .run spybot 4.run stinger (latest)5. i just ran the cleanup program to clean temp internet files 2.0 gig . the pop up window hasnt reaccured for a few hours but im not sure if im ok so what would someone suggest next ? ive downloaded hijack this and have it in its own folder. any help would be appreciated . thank you .

Turn off system restore
go to control panel-system-sytem restore tab check turn off system restore on all drives

restart system run av again

go back and turn system restore back on

Hi mrpkd...

Let's let the malware experts deal with this one. The scanners you used are undoubtably good, but some malware requires a "trained eye" to get rid of.

Please go to the Malware Forum and complete the steps on the page. That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself.

If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Do Not reply to or "bump" your own topic...if it shows a reply, it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

thanks , ill give that page a try . i did go there and read some of it .i downloaded a couple of programs it suggested but didnt go thru steps .thanks again for the help.

all seemsd to have gone well .completed steps and ran trojan hunter when done and i may be clean . thanks again for the help!
