a friend of mine lost her sound and i would like to know some of my options tried a few of the normal routes

i looked in device manager for driver updates and in sound and audio devices and eveything was there.She said it told her it needed to be installed

Do you know the make of soundcard, the usual one is re-install the soundcard software, irrespective of what device manager says

i believe she has an onboard .is there a way to check that to see what it would be
