everytime i try to launch the game....some how during the loading screen about 3/4 of the way the screen turns to a bunch of lines....what could be causing this problem?

update your video drivers.

next go into steam, right click on counter strike, go to properties. click on the third tab. select the option to verifiy game cache integrity.

reboot your pc and try launching the game.

If you overclock your video card change it back to stock.
