I will be upgrading my computer to a Raid system. I would like to do this without having to purchase another copy of windows xp. Is it possible to install my old hard drive in this new system?

Well yes but you cant use it in a RAID array, but thats not advisable unless you are going mirrored which most dont, RAID isnt really advisable as its performance increase is negligable compared to risk and cost. A striped array if it fails is difficult to impossible to rebuild easily and if one drive becomes completely non operational there is no chance of data recovery.
