I have a Nancy Drew game I am trying to install for my kid. When I install, before installation starts a box pops up that reads as follows:

ISDX_ERR_BADWINDOWSVERSION-entry not found in the string table

It only offers OK as an option to close this box and then another box opens that reads

SEVERE!

and then installation resumes but never completes.

What is up with this? How do I fix it.

ran into this one just this weekend

This happens occurs when the game installer tries to install an older version of DirectX over a newer version

During installation, you will see a dialog box where you can select Components, with a default selection of “Yes, install DirectX”.

Change this to “I will install DirectX later.” or something like that.
