how many drives are in this thing? Could that be a camera, or some sort of storage device?

I have several things attached.
2.0 USB Card, 4 port 1.0 USB connection with the following attached to that. Keyboard, mouse, web cam and external floppy. I have the USB cord to my ipod connected to the 2.0 USB card. I also have a printer connected. I think that is it. I do have problems with my mouse a lot of times. The computer loses the connection to the mouse. You will hear it go out and then in just a min, it will reconnect.

that second one could be the ipod....I would keep a close eye on your drives for a while, run chkdsk every week and check winlogon in eventviewer for repeat errors.
