i created a limited account for the younger ones and when i open the account a "desktop-notepad" immediately displays :

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

How do i stop this and does it signify an error?

When i created the account i also tried to load microsoft works but it did not install.

Thank you for any help or information that is forwarded.

log into yoiur account

Double click MY COMPUTER, choose TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > VIEW

Scroll down and CHECK SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS

UNCHECK HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES and HIDE PROTECTED SYSTEM OPERATING SYSTEM RILES (RECOMMENDED)

start > search for
desktop.ini

When the search is completed, DELETE the desktop.ini in the folder

c:\documents and settings\{profile of the younger one}\

delete them all (there will be several)

reboot and reload

you have a corrupt desktop.ini

Thank you gerryf that worked - Microsoft Works came installed on pc - has word processor (word), spreadsheet(xcel) etc. It is already downloaded on the Admin accounts but wouldn't work on the limited accounts, so i just put excel and word onto the limited account.
All is good now, thank you again.
