Hello

When I turn on my PC, I dont am not getting the usual 1 beep and the monitor is remaining blank (Samsung 56V) and the led blinks. The CD rom light blinks like normal so does the harddisk led. Just that there is no 1 beep and no image.

I have an ASUS nForce 2 mother board, with 256 MB PC2100 RAM and AMD 2000XP. Its three and a half yrs old . The inside of the case gathers a lot of dust. Earlier I have encountered problems such as continuous beeps when I start the computer and no boot up. Usually opening the case and blowing the dust away and rienstalling the RAM takes care of the problem. Only once it was a short circuit due to faulty wiring. However this time I am sure there is no such thing.

What may be wrong?

The monitor is allright coz it when I unplug it from the video out it says "no signal"
What maybe wrong?

Like everyone, I need my computer for work.

Please help
Thank U

(geekstogo admins may now realise why i haven't been able to train..... refer to my blog and then the Linux forum. Also track my all my posts. Add girl trouble and a bad flu. Bad hot weather and no rain. I have so lost my patience..... I can't even apply for university. I think I will sit and smoke some illegal substance and just let things pass by)

It could ba simple or it could be a major problem. No system beep may be the PC speaker got disconnected or quit. No video usually points to a bad video card, especially when the computer seems to power up.I use a pencil eraser to clean contacts on video, memory and PCi cards. Sometimes just repeated setting the card will get contact to where it will work in a dirty enviroment. Try another video card, even if its a PCI card, just to see if you get any video. If you still have no luck your motherboard may have been damaged.

The cheap filter foam you can buy at hardware stores can go a long way to keep out dust in your computer. I buy the thinnest i can find and clean it often. It does wonders keeping the dust out. Keep a eye on temps and they can cause higher inside temps. Sometimes i will cut holes in the side covers to get more air thru the case, covered with more foam of course.

Thank You very much for your cooperation. The problem has been solved. It was due to faulty wiring again.
