Wireless Card (installed or not)?

right click on "my network places" and choose properties...what's listed in the window that comes up?

Followed your instructions and in the new window the following is listed:-
Dial-Up

Local Area Connection
Connected, Firewalled

Hope you understand this. I am not very computer literate therefore was unsure how to explain this.

looks like you've got a wirless card to me... right click that entry and choose properties...what does it say in the "connect using" section?Local Area Connection Wireless Network Connection

hehehe...ok right click on it in that same place where we were (the properties of my network places) and choose "enable" from the menu

okiedokie....in your taskbar (the spot near the clock) do you see a little icon that is like....a dot with a couple of curved lines above it? (really hard icon to describe hehe but it's sort of like an upside down triangle...like the point is pointing down and then the three curved lines are towards the top of the triangle)?

No I dont have that icon. I've just found a software disk for the intel®/Pro Wireless. Do I need this at all?

you might....so hold on to that...
in the taskbar is there a picture of a computer with some ))) next to it?(the ))) will be on the right side of the little picture of the computer)
if you don't see the little computer guy
click on start > programs > look for intel proset wirless
if you see that open that folder up and click the program that's in it..

I have the little computer with the ))) next to it. There is also a red cross bottom right hand corner of the computer.

SWEET! right click on that guy...and choose "view available wireless networks" and tell me what you see

A "Wireless Network Connection" box opens up. Its says chose a wireless network. It also says windows cannot configure this wireless connection. It also says if you have enabled another program to configure this wireless connection, use this software.
If you want windows to configure this wireless connection .............. blah blah blah
