This this a traditional PS/2 mouse or a USB mouse? Laser or wheel? So let me get this straight... You turn on the computer and the mouse won't work, but if you unplug it and put it back in it's fine? Or you can restart the computer three times and get the same effect?

Have you tried using another mouse on this system to help identify the problem?

I suggest posting your HijackThis logfile in the malware section and having them look things over. They will be able to identify if there are any issues on your system that are fishy. The malware section will tell you how to post your log and everything. Good luck to you :whistling:

I would do what he suggests. Also its not generally a good idea to unplug and plug back a ps/2 style keyboard or mouse from the back of the computer while its running.. Thats what I have been taught from the beginning..

Itll be alright but the problem has to do with driver issues or corrupt mouse drivers or some type of malware issue..

As a parallel process, have you tried looking at TASK MANAGER (CTRL+DEL+ALT -> TASK MANAGER -> then processes) to see what, if anything, is stealing your CPU time?
