The last couple of days my lap top has been making beeping and scratching noises.

It's happening a lot right now and this what event viewer is saying "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation."

What's going on?

To me this sounds like you need to check device manager and see if there are any problems with your hard drive from there.

To do this go start > right click on the 'my computer' icon > click properties. From here a box called 'System Properties' should pop up, at the top click on the tab that says: 'Hardware'. Now click on the device manager button. Now there should be a list of your Laptop componants. click on the + sign next to 'Disk Drives' now you will see your Hard drive listed, if there is a yellow circle with an ! inside then right click the hard drive and click on properties. Now you can check the HDD status and see what is wrong with it.

Hope this helps

It didn't show any problem.

I restarted and the sounds aren't happening now.

The event log isn't showing the problem any more now either.

Why is that happening though?

I heard it a couple of days ago as well.
