Hi nickyheah

Welcome to the forums! ;)

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

[*]Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ntoeqooyvlhvk...RwKyeDd_mS.html
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CPQHotKeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTHelper] cthelper.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [CPQHotKeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [CTHelper] cthelper.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [CPQHotKeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [CTHelper] cthelper.exe
O9 - Extra button: MUSICMATCH MX Web Player - {d81ca86b-ef63-42af-bee3-4502d9a03c2d} - http://wwws.musicmat...enWebRadio.html (file missing)
O18 - Protocol: widimg - {EE7C2AFF-5742-44FF-BD0E-E521B0D3C3BA} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\btxppanel.dll

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

[*]Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
hotkeysvc.exe<--Delete this file
cthelper.exe<--Delete this file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\btxppanel.dll<--Delete this file

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.

http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Hi nickyheah

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

[*]Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [CPQHotKeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [CTHelper] cthelper.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

[*]Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them: If Found
hotkeysvc.exe
cthelper.exe

Exit Explorer, .

Reboot into normal mode (simply restart your computer as you normally would),

Please run the following free, online virus scans.

http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

hello thanks. am i supposed to delete all the files in the temp folder or just those you listed. cause i deleted everything and it did delete everything except ~DFA47A. It said access denied. also is this gonna be hard. cause for some reason now i can't click on the link to this forum topic through my email and had to find it manually once i logged in instead. everytime i tried, it would say i'm not connected to the internet, and it would prompt me to connect through my dial-up settings when i'm already connected with broadband. and it's not only geekstogo.com. i realised that i can't go to some other sites too with the same problem. would you advise me to reformat my com instead? if it's too much trouble trying to remove the malware. i want to reformat but i'm trying not to because it's a long and daunting task and i'm afraid i might forget some important stuff that i need. anyways, here is my new hijackthis log:

Hi

Reboot into safemode

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these all are checked and then press *ok* to remove:
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

Download the Hoster from here Press "Restore Original Hosts. and press "OK". Exit Program.

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check. Then chose Auto start.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.
Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot.
Paste them one at a time into the [clor=blue]full path of file to delete[/color] box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.
Let the system reboot.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Setup Files\RdrBig\ENU\Data1.cab[FL_atl71_dll_4_____X86.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8]
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\atl71.dll

Reboot into normal mode.

We will deal with the dialup problem shortly

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

i runned both the scans. here's the panda anti-virus log:

Incident Status Location

Adware:Adware/SaveNow No disinfected Windows Registry

and this is what i copied down from the housecall scan:

WORM_SDBOT.AUK Non Cleanable C:\System Volume Information\_restore(B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624]\RP257\A0033796.exe
WORM_SDBOT.AUO Non Cleanable C:\System Volume Information\_restore(B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624]\RP258\A0033905.exe

and after that scan, i clicked delete but i don't know whether i'm supposed to delete it or not.

here's my hijackthis log:

Hi nickyheah

Welcome to geekstogo

Sorry that is totally my fault. :tazz:

Download the Microsoft Antispyware unzip the program then run it.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Turn of system restore
Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore

Turn system restore back on and create a new restore point. Defrag your hard drive

The following items are in your system restore follow the link above after you have completed that the items below will have been deleted for good.
WORM_SDBOT.AUK Non Cleanable C:\System Volume Information\_restore(B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624]\RP257\A0033796.exe
WORM_SDBOT.AUO Non Cleanable C:\System Volume Information\_restore(B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624]\RP258\A0033905.exe

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

Kc ;)

Hi nickyheah :)

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :tazz:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use). Click Here
QUOTE
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox user posted image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. ;)

Kc ;)
