On board sound card not working

Hello all,im working on my dad's computer i cant get the sound to work or mic, it's onboard(built in the motherboard). I tried reinstalling and updated still no sound, when i go to sound recorder it wont record, the mic is good. Any sugesstions? I've done reinstalling and my dad does not want to put a sound card in when its already got one on the motherboard :blink:. :whistling:

hi, have you looked in device manager?
click start, then control panel, then system, hardware, device manager,
look at sound, video and game controllers open it,is there any thing there yellow?

yes, i even updated the driver

Hi, nic777 sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
the only thing I can think of is to delete it from device manager and then reboot,
computer should come up and say it found new hard ware, see if that works.
