can i use only css to make the first word in a <h1> blue and the rest green, or do i have to use <span>s?

ok with this many views and no response means that they don't know; which leads me to conclude that it is not possible; so i'm sticking to spans :whistling:

i wanted to do it with just <h1>green blue blue blue...</h1> but i don't think it's possible

I think there is a CSS2.1 pseudo-element that will get the effect you want (:first-word ?) , but most browsers have trouble with it.
