Monitor Woes!

Hey guys, I have a SVA VR-17s (17 inch LCD monitor), that has been working fine until just recently. When I start up games, suddenly the monitor will say that it is in an unknown mode and will not budge until I alt+tab out.

I have no idea what is causing this problem, SVA does not have any drivers except for plug and play for this monitor, and I have updated my video card drivers (geforce 4 6600).

Any ideas on what may be the issue or how I may fix this?

have you tried lowering the graphix settings in these cames?

can't even see the menu's when i start up these games to do so =/
