I was just wondering if I am doing my computer any harm if i have to pull the plug out when its froze whilst starting up, when the bar is flowing accross it just stops and I would have to knock it on and off about 5 times before it loads up correctly. I have scanned my computer for viruses but its not picking it up. Would re-installing windows do any help ? If I was to reboot/re-install windows I don't know my broadband username ect. Do you know how I can find this out on the machine without phoning ntl.

If anyone has had this problem before could you please let me know how you solved it.

Did you try a checkdisk?
Start > Run > chkdsk

You can add /F after chkdsk to restore any errors immediatly
