Autodialer feature in Outlook

Hi, i have a problem working the auto dialer feature in outlook. I enter the contact i wish to dial but never get any further and am unsure if it is set up properly. I followed some instructions on the web but they gave me nothing. Autodialer just gets stuck on "dialling". If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

did you follow the directions from the help menu in outlook?
type in autodialer
do you get any error message or
are the numbers formatted right For example, if you type 4255550187, the number does not display as (425) 555-0187
If you double-click the number, the Check Phone Number dialog box appears, and the entire string of numbers appears in the phone number field.
