Greetings everyone,
I am having trouble with my new external hard drive. I transfered all my documents to this new drive and than did a system back up. (That's why I got the external hard drive). Now I'm getting this message:

F:\is not acceessible
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

My OS is XP. Since the drive is new I can always return it and get a refund or an exchange. But I need my info from it. Is this something someone can assist me with.

Yes it did. It came with a SimpleTech StorageSync CD. I installed it and started saving files to it. Now I only can see the F:\ but when I click on it I get the message of unaccessable. I tried uninstalling also. My plug and play doesn't even tell me that it found a new hardware or anything. It's just there. This is a 250 GB external hard drive. The "red" light is on, it should be the green one.

Does the manual tell you anything about what the red light means?

Red light means powered on
Green light means drive read/write activity

And as far as the troubleshooting in the manual is concerned it doesn't state anything about the lights.

When I see the drive in my computer details.

I see F:\. I right-click it and I see
0 bytes free space, 0 bytes used space, capacity 0 bytes.
File Type: RAW

This is all I could get from it.
