PXE-E61: media test failure, check cable.

I recently disconected my cd-rom drive, then reconnected, ever since i have been getting this error message when trying to boot comp. Have checked cables and havent touched anything else, please help me! :tazz:

Hi,

You may have damaged the ide cable when taking it off or it could be that it is not installed correctly, the red line on the cable must go to pin 1 on the mobo connector, pin 1 maybe hard to identify but it could be printed on the mobo or check the mobo's manual. There is a notch in most connectors to prevent installing it the wrong way but you could have overlooked it.

To boot the computer till you get a new cable you could try going into bios and changing the boot order to hdd 1st and cdr 2nd. If the order is cdr 1st and hdd 2nd the bios is checking the cd first but can't find the device. This could give you the error.
