i haven't used my pc in a while. now, windows media player doesn't play the correct songs i select from any of the playlists that i have. i made all the files read only, but it's no use. any tips are greatly appreciated.

Did you move the original files location?
Or could you just remake the play lists?

yes yes yes you're right, i did move them. i'll try to move them back to the original folder and see what happens. making new playlists will be tremendously tedious so hopefully i won't have to result to that. thank you.

If you change the location of the file the play list breaks. The playlist basicly points to a file like a shortcut. so you move the file it is pointing to the wrong place.
