Windows cd burning software is of poor quality so i disable it on all my computers. You can get Nero 6.0.0.6 rather cheap at this website.

It is a much better cd burning software.

let me add the problem is
the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is disabled and i cant change it
it says services local, access denied error #5
spent some hours reading and havent found what is keeping me from access or what turned it off,
it should be manual start and in the start mode, not disabled

dont know what to do at this point
untill this is fixed no program will write a cd. explorer gets an error looking at a blank disk as well

The reason for my answer is because it would be easier to disable the imapi service and use Nero to do your burning. A access denied error usually means that a program is already trying to access the drive so when you try burning a CD windows sees the drive as being in use. Finding this kind of problem can be very time consuming. Going thru msconfig and trying to disable the programs one by one to find which one is causing the problem takes some time. It might not even find the problem as you mention trying some cdburning app's and deleting them. This may have deleted a registry entry that lets the imapi program work. I was just trying to save you some time.
