hey, just turned on my computer upstairs and a page opened up with a pop-up explaining that i have a virus that attaches itself to .exe files and is designed to gain access to my personal, private, financial material that i store on my computer. when i click "ok" it brings me to a page where i can download programs to scan my computer to show me the infections, but then it just brings me to a site where i have to pay $30-$40 to actually get rid of them.

the virus names is W32.Myzor.FK@yf, that's all i know.

does anyone know of a way to find this virus and delete it manually without having to pay for a program?

thanks

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
