I'm a huge user and proponent of remote access software. Usually I use logmein, which I have found to be an excellent program, but I know that there are a lot of people out there who use a lot of other programs as well. For example, though I don't use it myself I know that XP Pro comes with Remote Desktop.

But the future is upon us, and I'm interested as to what it may hold. Two questions

1) does anyone know if Logmein (any version thereof) works with Vista?
2) if or if not, what kind of options might be built into Vista? Remote Desktop? A comparable or newer version thereof?

Thanks so much

I believe that Remote Desktop will be included in:
Windows Vista Business N (European version)
Windows Vista Business
Windows Vista Small Business
Windows Vista Enterprise
and Windows Vista Ultimate.

The information is from Paul Thurrott's Supersite and can be viewed here. However, this may change, because Vista is still in testing.

Sorry, but I do not know if Logmein will work in Vista or not; I tried to look in their forums, buy they are down for maintenance.

I wrote to them and asked. They will not support Vista until it is out in its retail version. Then they will. Anyone know a work-around or another remote access program that supports Vista now?

You know logmein is just an application and vista is mostly back compatible with software for XP so it might work however i would wait till the RC is out before you try it.

It installs just fine and behaves like it's working but then when you go to log on from a remote computer it says you're typing in the wrong password. I wonder if this is just because of vista's super security stuff and if there is a way to allow logmein that I don't know about.

Ok, now I feel really stupid: How do I do that? When I launch the terminal services client I don't know what to put in the "server" box.

I tried LogMeIn on Windows Vista Beta 2 and it worked almost fine :
- add an exception to windows defender when it asks for it at install
- add a password to every user account (otherwise Vista doesn't allow remote control even for LogMeIn)

My issue was more about being disconnected every other minute, which is quite a challenge to work remotely on a document. When I installed XP back on my computer, LogMeIn stopped my disconnections

I tried to install LogMeIn on Windows Vista RC1 and I have issues at install so I can't say it works with RC1

I'm sure that LogMeIn will come up with a solution : their entire business is based on this compatibility with Vista. They just told me that they don't want to work on a beta version of Windows. I guess that with RC1, they're going to start working on something.

Hello Everybody!

I have got a problem I hope you know help me. I use Windows Vista RTM 6000 and LogMeIn. LogMeIn was installed my computer corretly. I have got a password every user account.
I closed my firewall and Vista firewall too, but when I try remote my PC, It says me:

"Error: The operator or administrator has refused the request. (4320)
Please enter your Windows username and password. "

Why?! I'm administrator my computer. Why doesn't work it?

Please help me. It's very important, because I can use ONLY LogMeIn remote software, anything else doesn't work it, because I'm behind an University firewall.

I've got the same error. The only way to make it work was to disable UAC. If you find another solution please let me know
