Can't search from IE 6

Recently MSIE 6 has begun to freeze or hang when searching within any page using that pages search or filter feature. No spyware, adware, Windows XP Pro SP2 is fully up to date. Can't find a repair option for IE but have tried clearing all caches. Any suggestions, please?
