You may want to check the post under Software - Free Software. There is a program called Anim8or you may want to check out. I don't know about the rest of the software there. I haven't checked them out yet. I have downloaded the Anim8or today, but haven't tried it yet.

I like and use PSP Animation Shop myself.

oh, i think i may have used PSP Animation Shop before... ill try that again as i will recognise some fo the controlls. Thanks

i tried Jasc animation shop, its rather good, i understand how to use it, i used it before. Thanks for the help

But ImageReady is not free...

You can also do it online at: http://www.online-image-editor.com

Choose in the "Effect" menu for "Start Animation Wizard" and upload there the frames you want to have in your animated gif.
When you click on an uploaded frame, you can set transition type and delay time....
