Is there an easy way to get the old Might and Magic games 1-5 to play with Windows XP???? I got 6 to work but have problems with 1-5 and 7&8.

I have heroes 3 on my computer. It's a burned copy. The expansion wouldn't work after I burned it but I just use the original disc for that. I haven't had any problems with the game using windows XP. As far as the others go, I would have no idea. I thought that heroes 2 and 3 were the last great ones of the series.

short of running them in compatibility mode?

Create a shortcut for the games executable file, right click it, choose the COMPATIBILITY tab, experiment with settings.

If you have sp2, you should know that some programs simply will not work because they access hardware at a level sp2 considers unsafe. I do not recall these as being among them, but it is worth knowing.
