Hey do you know where the four hour feed originiated? It came in (don't remember the year exactly) when hospitals in the UK brought in four hour shifts for nurses many years ago (they've probably changed this shift time since). The idea was that the babies would be fed once by each shift!

I didn't know that. It makes sense. The Midwife made her first house call today. Bubs only woke up once last night. (1 feed). That's not good! (I got in trouble).
It's not really feed on demand. I have to wake her up for a feeding.

I never bothered with that. Each of my four children all had a different rhythm. I think the experts try to get the babes into the four hour rhythm more for the sake of the Mum than for the babies. My firstborn was amazing - he started sleeping through the night at about two weeks and used to sleep sometimes till about 10.00 am (I'd go in and poke him to make sure he was OK!!! lol). It had been an extremely hot Melbourne summer and for the last month of my pregnancy I had trouble sleeping and used to sleep in. I think he just got into the sleep-in habit before he was born and continued it.

My two boys get up at the crack of dawn. It's really annoying pouring ceral at 5.30am. I stopped them from napping during the day.

Hmmm Yes I do remember a similar time! I'd had three boys then my last was a girl. When my daughter was born the boys were 3,4 and 11. Two things stand out in my memory. Firstly for a very long time I would get a real surprise every time I opened her nappy (being so used to the boys)! and as she started to do simple things like sit, play, crawl etc how different most of her movements were compared to the boys. She was so feminine! It was great.
