Ok basically I upgraded my system, new motherboard, processor, video card. Ok, I have a full retail version of Windows XP, not OEM. Anyhow once upgraded I tried to boot up and ended up having to repair windows, ok, computer works but its not very stable. So I decided to get a brand new clean drive and slave my old hard drive. When I tried to install Windows XP on the new master drive it stated the install but during install it said it couldn't find two files, so I skipped them. Then when it was done installing it just wasnt right. There was no internet explorer, no help files, I couldn't even activate it. When I tried to click on the activate message nothing happened, when I tried the manual command to start activation nothing happened. So I mastered my old drive, slaved the new one and formatted it. I am afraid to try it again...

any ideas about this?

Hi z00ropa, Take a good look at your XP cd and make
sure its clean, even a finger print can stop the cd from
loading all the data.
Then try
Start, run,type in sfc \scanow
make sure you leave a space after sfc.
then press enter. you will need your xp cd for this
file protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar,
when the bar goes away, reboot
