I am looking for a way to be able to print from my laptop (in another room) to my printer that is connected to my home pc without having to connect any cables. I am not the least bit knowledgeable in the wireless field but there must be a way to do this. I would greatly appreciate anyone who could provide me with the information and a list of equipment needed to accomplish this.

You can set up a wireless network to do this you would need 1 wirless lan card for your pc and 1 for your laptop and a wirless hub You can buy it in a kit that has every thing you need to do this but I don't know if it kit will come with the card you need for the laptop there are some that use your usb to do this too but I 'm not up on this due to I feel the best way to do it is with lan cards. here a link to a site that you can look at the wirless networking click here

Tazz is absolutely correct, and provided a nice link from How Things Work (one of my favorite sites).

I'd recommend you purchase a kit. Here's one at Amazon.com I'm not recommending you necessarily buy this one, but it shows what's needed.

Also, there are two mainstream wireless networking standards that you can choose from, 801.11B, and 802.11G. They are very similar and compatible systems. 802.11G is the newest technology, and has a large speed advantage or 802.11B (about 4 times faster), it's also a little more expensive.

If your just sharing a printer, either will work just fine, but a wireless network also allows you to share a broadband connection, and files. If you're going to be doing all this, I'd recommend the 802.11G.
