First let me say that I trully am a "CompuDummy" that needs the help of someone who has alot of patience and who can walk me thru step by step to hopefully fix the problem i'm having. Please keep in mind (IF YOU CAN HELP ME???) that I don't know my way around inside computer systems to well.....but I do OK in following step-by-step instructions. So PLEASE HELP if you can!
Thanks,
CompuDummy

Here's the problem: Several months ago I bought and installed "RollerCoaster Tycoon" and my son and I have and still play it without any problems. Then we thought we'd try "RollerCoaster Tycoon 3".....bought and installed it and it worked fine also. Then recently we decided to try "RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Soaked" expansion pack, bought and installed it and that is when the problem started. First I got a message saying: "Status:0x00000040 at :0: Error initialising Direct 3D9", so we couldn't even play "RollerCoaster Tycoon 3" after adding the 'expansion pack"....so even though the game comes with DirectX 9.0, I redownloaded DirectX 9.0 from microsoft.com along with Direct Draw3D.....I'm not sure which one fixed the problem, but at least that problem was fixed and "RollerCoaster Tycoon 3" would work again by itself but now when reinstalling the "Soaked" expansion pack again I get this message: "Bad Version: 5 in file: C:\ProgramFiles\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3\CarriedItems\More CarriedItems.Common.ovl". The only thing I can come up with is that this is telling me the "Soaked" CD is no good.....please tell me, what do you guys or gals think???

I just found a suggestion, you might want to try. This guy suggests un-installing RCT 3 and the expansion, and then reinstall.

And if you know how to do it, try updating your graphic card drivers.
