Hello,

I suspect spyware was downloaded on my computer. At first, Internet Explorer kept directing me to an URL similar to "freedownloader.com" and opened multiple pop-up windows.

Then, I noticed I had Windows Updates available and ran updates. It took a lot longer than usual and I was alarmed to find multiple short-cuts added to my desktop with links to popular websites such as "amazon" and "spyware removal" so I stopped the process.

I tried to uninstall Windows Service Pack 2 and then Internet Explore stopped working. I tried to delete temp internet files but one would not delete.

I tried opening Netscape which worked for a while then stopped working.

Now my Norton Antivirus has Error status and will not update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the same thing happened.

Now I cannot connect to the internet through Explorer or Netscape on that computer and Norton Antivirus does not seem to be working.

Sorry this is rather incoherent. I am not very good with computer operations. Please help! I am at a loss to what steps to take next.

Thank you very much.

Hi bluesky

You will need to download some software to run on the computer that is in trouble to help us see what is happening.

Please go through each of the steps outlined in this thread. http://www.geekstogo...?showtopic=2852

When you have completed all those steps on that computer. You will be asked to do a HijackThis log. Copy and Paste that log into this thread.
