IE Toolbar unexplainable changes

This is too weird. My IE toolbar is making changes to itself with me doing nothing. This is not a joke. My daughter was on a typing website, did absolutely nothing to the toolbar, and most of it went away. The only thing that was left on the top were the back and forward buttons, etc. (no names, just the buttons). I had to right-click and manually add back the additional items to the toolbar. When I right-clicked, there was no choice that said "unlock toolbar" and I could not move any of the toolbars. It was limited to one-line across and all bunched up. The drop-down menu I got was not like the normal one.

I tried everything I could think of to fix this, and it would not work. Then, in desperation, I came to the Geeks to Go website to post and all of the sudden, as I was advancing to the right page to post, the regular toolbar magically appeared at the top! If I toggled back and forth to the previous links, the messed-up toolbar was there.

Can someone please help me? When the correct toolbar shows, it shows that it is "locked" if you right click, but obviously something crazy is going on.

Thanks.
