Thanks for your help before it worked a treat.....I have tried to remove all traces of qttask exe which was causing my lockout problem but it keeps coming back every time i reboot what can i do to rid my pc of this nasty little programme for good????? :whistling:

Hello aark...

Navigate to C:\Program Files\QuickTime and rename qttask.exe to qttask.exe.old. Reboot...it should no longer load with Windows. All this file does is place the Quick Time icon in the system tray. I really don't see how it's causing your lockouts...
