See if you get the same result with this

http://audacity.sour...e.net/download/

Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. You can use Audacity to:

Record live audio.
Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs.
Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, and WAV sound files.
Cut, copy, splice, and mix sounds together.
Change the speed or pitch of a recording.
And more! See the complete list of features.

Although i am unfamilar with Audacity, it seems to accept my mp3 files. I'm gonna have to read up on how to use this.

Thanks for the Audacity

:whistling: but what about Movie maker? Is Move Maker a goner now ?

If Audacity runs then it is probably Movie maker

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

Download and install Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up Disc Clean Up

Run Tune Up Registry Clean Up

Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, which will take a few minutes and need a reboot. You should disable the antivirus programme to run this

Check the anti virus is running after the reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

You may find other programmes here which will do the same as movie maker

It didn't say anything about Movie Maker being a newer version but, after i install Movie Maker 2.0, it didn't look much different. And my mp3 files still doesn't work on it. It looks like all the other formats work on Movie Maker except for my mp3 files

Have a look at Super Encoder to see if it will do what you use Movie Maker for

http://www.erightsoft.net/Superdc.html

I would think repairing XP would cure the problem with movie maker, though I am not a fan of the repair install, so I would look for other programmes which do what you need and leave movie maker until you re-install

Are there any particular things you use movie maker for

Is Audacity working

Audacity is working perfecting and im getting used to it. The only reason I use Movie Maker is to edit some of my mp3 files, but i just found Audacity does that better with saving your finished project to a mp3 instead of a wma (which was a lot of trouble since i had to convert Movie maker's wma into mp3).

I'll have to leave Movie Maker to editing videos.

If you can use Audacity for the mP3 and movie maker will edit the clips you want, probably best to go with that

You could probably get to the bottom of it, but only beneficial if there is a worthwhile gain
