One day, I turned on my computer and there was a message that said "program" needed to be renamed. I was immediately concerned...but only had a few minutes before work and just needed to print a registration form for my college. So I hit ignore, and brought up the internet to get my form. Soon after, my everquest patcher started coming up, trying to download patches. But it would only download for a few seconds and then stop...then start all over again. Well I printed my form, and the shut down the computer to deal with after work. After work when I turned on my computer, my husband was there and he said he had that happened on his computer before, all he did was let it get renamed and then deleted it from his system. I was not satisfied with this, worried that maybe he had only fixed half of the problem. So did rename and delete it, deleted everquest and reinstalled it. That only made the file come back. The file is located in the C: drive, by itself, not even in a folder. The file seems to be created as soon as I try to download all the patches after reinstalling everquest. Maybe it is only an everquest problem, but it disables mcafee security center and it tries to access the internet. I have gone through and tried all the steps on your page for malware removal. I had some adware and spyware that it removed, but nothing that I saw seemed serious. After finishing step 4, I rebooted and reinstalled everquest, and the same thing happened. I have also checked the everquest website to see if anyone else had reported anything, but there was nothing. Below I have posted my hijackthis log.
